|Joshua Mark Hicks: An Obituary
Joshua Mark Hicks was born in Montgomery, Alabama on February 17, 1985. Joshua died at his home in Spring Hill, Tennessee in the presence of his parents and two sisters on May 21, 2001.
Joshua suffered from a genetic storage disorder called Sanfillipo Syndrome (MPS IIIA). Symptoms began to appear when Joshua was four years old. The condition was degenerative for both his body and mind which eventually resulted in his death at the age of sixteen.
Joshua is survived by his mother, Barbara Hicks, his father, John Mark Hicks, and his two sisters Ashley and Rachel. He is also survived by both grandmothers, Eula Adcox and Lois Hicks, and a large extended family.
Joshua was cared for and loved by several church families, including the church in Prattville, Alabama; Ross Road church in Memphis, Tennessee; Cordova church in Memphis, Tennessee; and the Woodmont Hills church in Nashville, Tennessee.
Joshua's favorite sport was baseball though he ran the bases backwards. His favorite transportation was the school bus. His favorite TV show and stuffed animal was "Alf" and his favorite movie was the "The Wizard of Oz." Joshua's favorite song was "Everybody Will Be Happy Over There!"
We know that he is enjoying that happiness now.
